New Blog Smell

Ahhh, this blog is so fresh and new! It is always nice to start out fresh on a blog. You have all these great intentions and plans for it (at least I do!). I will admit, I have a bad track record with blogging. I have the best laid plans then life gets in the way, but I will stick to it this time.I am not going to "introduce" myself or anything since I put up an about me page above. I'm just going to jump right in to posting my little black heart out!

So I am sitting here in our spare bedroom, chilling with one of the furrys. This bedroom is more of a storage/craft room than bedroom, but it has a queen sized bed an a huge window with pretty nice view. It's my peaceful place. It is a pretty day out and I am trying to enjoy it while it lasts because before I know it we will be having a repeat of last summer.

Last summer was hell. I have been in Texas since summer 2008 and the weather was pretty mild. I grew up in Fresno, CA and the summers there get HOT. I am used to hot summers. We have a dry heat there, but it is not uncommon to be at least 105+. Well, here it gets a bit humid but, for the most part, it stays in the 90's. Mother Nature threw that out the window last year!

In February we had a horrible snow/ice storm. It snows here once in a blue moon and usually doesn't stick around very long. This time, it dropped on us like a hammer. It was pretty warm for January, but in just a day it dropped from 75 to 24. It snowed quite a bit the first day and then froze solid. We had temps of 8 degrees as our low and the town basically shut down. We don't have plows and the city didn't salt the roads.

Anyways, it was a pretty rough. Little did we know it was just a hint of what was coming! In April, on Easter Sunday, we had a HUGE hail storm. People's car window were shattered and, for months after, insurance companies set up tents around town for people to get hail damage assessments. Car lots had "hail sales" to sell cars with damage from the storm.

Once summer hit, we broke record after record for heat. It was miserably hot. We took a trip with my parents to San Antonio in July. It was so sticky and hot. I am crossing my fingers that this summer will be better, but seeing as we have already gotten pretty warm, I am not optimistic!

Well, I think I have been enjoying the sunshine long enough. I am going to take a shower and then the dirty dishes are beckoning my name.
