30 Days of Blogging Honesty, Day 06

My worst cooking disaster involved _____________ and this person/these people…

My worst cooking disaster involved home-made turkey chili and my mom. I found a recipe in a cooking magazine for turkey chili and decided to make it. I copied it down since the mag wasn't mine and made it about a week later. Somewhere, something got lost in translation. I put a bit too much chili powder.

I should put this out there: I LOVE spicy food. The spicier the better usually. My mom cannot handle any spice. It can be mild salsa and she is choking because of the spice. Well, I thought the chili was awesome. I served it up to my parents (this was back when I lived at home). I don't think my mom got through one bite before she was choking and coughing. Ooops. She did her best to eat it, but I felt super bad.  I made it several more times after that, but adjusted the spices WAY down for my mom.

Not too bad of a disaster, right? I really can't think of anything too bad involving me and cooking. Sure I have made things that didn't turn out quite right, but nothing salvageable.

  1. Nicole, that does not sound too bad at all. In fact it sounds delicious. Your mother is missing out on some great food but she cannot help that.

    1. She is missing out on a lot! Her taste buds are just so sensitive, while mine must have burned off a long time ago ;-)
