Day 01 — The one thing that it seems like everyone else on the planet is into but I just cannot stand is…
BEER!I hate, hate, hate beer. I cannot drink it at. all. I have tried many different times and many different types of beer. I couldn't stomach any of them. To me it tastes like chewing on grass/hay. The taste reminds me of something traumatic (but funny at the same time) that happened to me as a kid.
Let me explain... This is going to sound totally bizarre, but bare with me! When I was about 7, my Nana planned something fun for my little cousin and I at the end of the school year. It was called Lunch with the Llamas. Basically, we drove up to the Sierras, near Mariposa if I remember correctly, to a ranch. Once everyone arrived, each kid got their own llama to lead on a hike. I was assigned the lead llama Sinbad. I lead the line of llamas on a little hike, ending in a meadow. This is where we had a picnic lunch and had time to play with the other kids.
After my cousin and I ate lunch, we were playing with some of the other kids. At one point, we were standing around my llama Sinbad. He was grazing on the grass calmly, when, all of a sudden, he raised his head a spit a huge wad of chewed up grass and saliva at ME. I cannot begin to describe what it was like having it it my eyes, nose, mouth and all in my hair and on my clothes. It was horrible.
The owners were really kind and let me use their shower when we returned to the ranch. They felt so bad about it and gave me a free t-shirt to make it up to me. Come to find out, Sinbad had a little kid grab his "hang-dang," as my husband would call it, a few weeks before and he must have felt threatened by us standing by him. Ever since then, my family would like to tease me about llamas, and I refused to wear that t-shirt!
So, what does llama loogies have to do with beer? Well, as mentioned above, beer tastes like grass/hay to me. It reminds me of the taste of the llama spit. I just can't drink it. When I am offered beer, I politely decline, and, luckily few people have asked me why I don't like beer. It is a bit embarrassing to go into a long winded explanation about getting spit on by a llama!
Tune in tomorrow for day 2! If you want to join in or learn more about the rules/prompts, check it out HERE
